Biography

Bülent Yılmaz was born in Giresun, Turkey in 1974. In 1992, he was accepted to the Middle East Technical University (METU), Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Dr. Yılmaz graduated in 1997, and in 1999, defended his master's thesis and began his PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. In his doctoral thesis, he worked on the estimation of origin of the heart rhythm disturbance using statistical signal processing methods as a fellow of Whitaker Foundation.


Prof. Yılmaz started his academic career in 2004 at Baskent University, Ankara, as an assistant professor in the department of biomedical engineering. He was invited to be one of the founders of Abdullah Gül University in Kayseri in 2011. He is currently serving as the Vice Rector responsible for education processes, and Head of Electrical and Electrical Engineering Department.


His research areas are biomedical signal and image processing, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and brain-computer interfaces. He is also interested in higher education systems. Dr. Yılmaz taught undergraduate and graduate courses. He took part in various projects as a researcher and principal investigator. He has been serving as panelist and referee in an academic or industry project.
