Abstract

The petrochemical industry is necessary for the production of many things related to areas such as food, medicine, clothing, agriculture, and technology used in everyday life. Petrochemicals explain all those that can be obtained from petroleum refinery products. Petrochemical industries play a vital role in the national economy. Environmental subjects have recently become significant considerations owing to the possible damaging influences produced by chemical releases. Petrochemicals can lead to acute and chronic ailments such as cancer, allergy, ulcer, liver, and kidney problems. In this sector, at the same time, many occupational accidents can occur during the production process. The petrochemical industry constitutes one of the areas that can cause substantial health and safety issues. Several problems concerning the petrochemical industry and its products were discussed in this article. The present study aims to review studies based on the environmental risks and occupational accidents associated with the petrochemical industries including refineries and to advise options for the plan of future researches.
