Özet

The main usage area of lead is battery manufacturing and the insulation of underground communication cables with lead is another important consumption area. It is gray in color and has a metallic luster. Its melting point is low (327 °C), boiling point (at 1 atmosphere) is 1525 °C. With its corrosion resistant, easily shaped, high specific gravity (11.4 t/m3 ), lead has the characteristics of being used as different alloys. Since it has a low tensile strength (1 t/in2 ), its use is limited in cases where stress is important. Among the base metals, it is the most resistant to corrosion, as well as having flattening and wire drawing properties. Lead has found important usage areas in lead oxide paints preventing corrosion, coating of cables, octane adjusting compounds in lead tetraethyl and tetramethyl forms in gasoline, protection from x-rays, production of color television tubes and ammunition because it is the metal that transmits radiation the least. Lead, which ranks 34th among the elements found on earth, has an atomic number of 82 and an atomic weight of 207.21. Lead crystallizes in the cubic system, which is rare in nature with its unique crystal structure. Minerals can be separated from each other by taking advantage of the specific gravity differences of the minerals. Depending on the size of the liberation grain size of the minerals, jigs, heavy media separators, spiral and oscillating tables are used alone or in combination. Although gravity methods are cheaper than other enrichment methods in terms of both operating and investment costs, their low metal recovery efficiency, inability to prevent leakages and inability to fully adapt to selective separation are disadvantages. This method is mostly used for pre-enrichment. Within the scope of the study, Pb-Zn ore from a mining company in Yahyalı District of Kayseri province was used. Separation tests with jig device are mostly applied to large size materials and for pre-enrichment purposes. In accordance with the requirements of the device, the -2.36 + 1.5 mm fractions of each sample were subjected to jig tests. A single-compartment jig tool was used in the separation tests with gravity difference. The pulsation speed of the jig device was 180 rpm and the water feed rate was approximately 2 L per minute. As a result of the experiments, it has been revealed that the Pb content can be recovered with the jig method with an efficiency of 82.66%.
