Water supply and distribution systems are of great importance for
people, other living things and industrial systems to continue their lives.
Despite the decreasing water resources day by day, automation systems are used
for both energy efficiency and water efficiency. Electronic monitoring units
and sensors, which are getting smaller and more economical with Industry 4.0,
create the internet of things by transmitting data to the internet with cloud
computing. Water supply and distribution can be managed with high efficiency
with artificial intelligence supported water management SCADA systems that
imitate experienced operators with machine learning and optimization
techniques. In this study, successful case studies are summarized. In addition,
a model has been created for the estimation of the ideal energy consumption of
pumps, whose instantaneous flow and energy consumption can be measured using a
machine learning method, and experimental results are presented. Water and
sewerage administrations affiliated to metropolitan municipalities that provide
drinking water supply and distribution, municipalities, agricultural irrigation
unions and agricultural enterprises, as well as all industrial institutions
that use water in their processes, are required to remotely monitor and control
their units such as pumps, tanks and water networks. Thus, it will be possible
to provide feedback to the institution with the analysis of the big data
obtained from the data obtained. In addition to all these, pressures on water resources
can be reduced and water sustainability can be achieved with social awareness
and preventive policies.
