Abstract:

The effect of geopolymerization on organic soils has not been investigated in the literature. Therefore, in this study, the mechanical and deformation behaviors of organic soils activated by alkali activator and fly ash will be investigated. Furthermore, the effect of fly ashes with various types and physical and chemical properties, supplied from 6 different thermal power plants, on the geopolymerization process organic soils were examined. Axial compressive strength tests were conducted on the specimens prepared at various rates of fly ashes to better understand the improvement in the mechanical performance of organics soils and the microstructural analysis (XRD, XRF, SEM-EDX analysis) were performed on the specimens. In addition, the effect of pH, TDS, salinity and conductivity on the mechanical properties of the samples as a chemical analysis were evaluated. Experimental study has shown that; Geopolymerization processes in organic soils are affected by many parameters and have remarkable differences compared to inorganic soil types. It has been determined that fly ash types have a significant effect on the geopolymerization of organic soils.
